Description
A simple Southern classic!
Ingredients
| 10 | pods of okra (sliced into 1/4 inch peices) | |
| 1 | egg (beaten ) | |
| 1 | c | cornmeal |
| 1⁄4 | t | Salt |
| 1⁄4 | t | ground pepper |
| 1⁄2 | c | vegatable oil |
Instructions
In a small bowl, soak okra in egg for 10 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal, salt and pepper. Heat oil in skillet over medium high heat. Dredge the okra in the cornmeal mixture. Carefully place the okra in the hot oil, stiring constantly. Reduce heat to medium when okra first starts to brown. Cook until golden. Drain on paper towels.
